|
|
This is a quick guide to moving to the new website.
Understand two things:
1) The new website is backended by a guild engine called Guild Launch. The Guild Launch engine supports multiple games (not just WoW) and potentially 10s of thousands of guilds within those games. It is not a personalized message forum like what we current use. Consequently, the new site must deal with many types of issues that we never dealt with here. This adds complexity.
2) Most of the complexity of the new site revolves around the fact that it treats YOU (as a person) seperately from your characters; and that it must prevent Internet idiots from freely accessing other people's guildsites and doing all the rude things that idiots do.
Getting to the New Guild Site
Use this link:
http://councilofdragons.guildlaunch.com
Step 1: Creating an Account for the Guild Launch system.
You need to have a Guild Launch account in order to access the site. The actual account uses an email address as the account name. You also get to have a forum name. While it would be nice to have a forum name that matches your main WoW character, you may not be able to do this. Remember that Guild Launch supports 10's of thousands of users. Someone may have already grabbed your forum name. So, while my main Wow character is Milric, the forum name Milric may already be taken by someone else. Just use another forum name; feel free to make it similar to your character name. I could try Milric111 for instance.
Click on the Create New Account link WAY up in the top left corner.
A) Fill in the questions about creating a new account in the area called 'Step 1 of 2 : Create A Guild Launch Account'
Now the system needs to make sure that you should be authorized to join the Council of Dragons site. If they did not do this, anyone could walk in and start posting bad things.
B) Fill in the appropriate password in the area called 'Step 2 of 2 : Apply to this guild (optional)'
The password can be found in the guild information tab in game.
C) Press submit.
If all has gone well, you have created an account and you have authorized that account to access the CoD website.
You may need to actually log in at this point. Use the email account and password that you entered in part A to login. It will tell you if you are logged in WAY up in the top right corner.
OPTION STEP 1.1: If you already have an account, but are not associated with the CoD guild, you will need to authorize your account for CoD.
A) Login to the site and access the CoD website using the link above.
B) Press the 'Apply To Guild' menu option on the left side of the screen.
C) Fill in the appropriate password.
The password can be found in the guild information tab in game.
D) Press submit.
Step 2: Claiming your characters
The Guild Launch site has no magically way of knowing that your account actually controls any particular characters in the guild. You will have to tell it.
A) Click on the 'Guild Roster' menu item.
This will list the characters in the guild. There are multiple pages, so you may need to click the various pages to find all of your characters.
B) Press the 'Claim' option on the far right of each of your characters.
C) Press the confirmation choice for each character.
So, now your account is associated with all of the characters that you control.

Unfortunately, this site is not a "private" site, but a public site and posting of the password just allowed all those "idiots" we don't want on the new site free access to the site. So please edit your post and remove this one to ensure we don't have those idiots joining the new site. Varis The guildies can get the password from the guild information block of the social channel in-game. _________________ "Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect.
