I've been using the following spec for Feuer for awhile now:

I know there is no "perfect" raiding build for mages depending on the gear, length of the fight, movement, trash clearing, and interruptions. While Feuer does decent dpm with less downtime than fire, in a dps race this becomes an issue. While I can squeek out every amount of dps through gear, spec, buffs, water elemental and play style - I am just not sure this is going to be enough. Is it more important for me to be in the middle of the dmg charts and less of a worry for the healers - or should I be working on more dps with a fire spec?

And I also know that in later instances/raids frost would be more appropriate than fire - so I've been reading.

I've been impressed with your damage. I was ice when leveling but switched to fire because Felanima was blowing me away in dps. But I think you're doing so well as it is that you shouldn't switch if you enjoy ice.

well fire spec rules 25 man raiding because mostly of buff dps.  If you look into the mages from top raiding guilds that's mostly what you're gonna find.

here a few examples

Dont go by ranks when looking at them because a rank 1 mage can be an alt, just look at the mages with top gear those are the ones that actually do the raiding  Very Happy

that spec is used by pretty much all Black Temple Mages

I am frost and Arcane.. I really like Blizzard, I usually lead with Nova, hit them with Arcane missle to weaken, then finish with Blizzard...I was Fire/ Arcane but was decidedly much weaker I believe so I switched it up.Smile
