Many of us give to the vault freely, which gives others the opportunity to draw potions, rare world drops such as Darkmoon Faire cards, crafting materials and reputation items from the bank at will (with some rank restrictions).  But keep in mind that these are not items that the giver would sooner put in his own bank slots (if she had the room) such as armor and weapon she wants to use someday, or sell for personal gain.  They are all gifts we give to one another.  Therefore using the guild vault in any way is completely optional.

If you do use the guild vault, as you are all encouraged to do, please abide by the following guidelines

DO's
1.  Do remove anything in the vault you need in return for a donation of 1/2 the item's AH price, if you can afford to do so.

2.  Do remove crafting mats to make end-game consumables like pots, flasks, sharpening stones, warding runes, 'buff' food, etc. Obviously if you donate the consumables, there is no need to contribute gold for the withdrawal.

3.  Donate crafting materials you don't need - in particular the end-game crafting mats such as netherweave, netherbloom, adamantite, rare uncut gems.

4.  Put shards from 5-mans and raids in the bank (unless someone wants to roll for them).  We don't typically roll for shards in raids in the interest of time, and we are starting to go this way in all-guild 5-man runs too.

5.  Use guild money to repair from guild-sponsored runs.

6.  Use guild money to respec if asked to do so by the raid leader.

7.  Use guild money to buy guild-sponsored Arena charters.

DONT's
1.  Never put anything in the guild vault that you don't want to give away to your guildmates.

2.  Don't clutter the vault with junk.  Generally we don't want food at or below vendor quality, or low level consumables.  Designated guild enchanters (Enchantra, F9, Milric and Adys) will shard donated armor and weapons, unless you put them in the valuables slot.  Lockboxes will be unlocked and contents disenchanted as well.

3.  Don't withdraw enchanting materials for something you won't use very long.  For example, don't use void crystals to put Mongoose on your level 35 green Mace of Flubberiness.

Please understand this is just a first stab at putting in writing what I think we already do.  Let me know if you agree, or if you think we should be doing something differently.
